The five surprisingly good players in the Premier League so far?

The Premier League can be absolutely bizarre at times, and none are more bizarre than the players themselves. Most players form is all over place in this crazy modern age of football, but now we look at the players who at the moment there form is surprisingly positive.

1.Gabriel Agbonlahor - Aston Villa

The pacy Villa striker had a 2010/2011 season, most players would wake up in a cold sweat from, racking up a hugely unimpressive 3 goals and 1 assist. However the new season seems to have kickstarted Agbonlahor's career, and he has arguably been Villa's best player, overshadowing the slow starting Charles N'Zogbia. However with the talent emerging in England's forward line up it is unlikely we will see Gabby on the plane to the Euros, but who knows with his sudden upturn in form and the crazy antics of the English coach.

2. Laurent Koscielny - Arsenal

With Arsenals defence about as sturdy as John Terry's friendship with Wayne Bridge, its hard to include a defender who featured in an 8-2 thrashing and a 4-3 loss to Blackburn. However recently the stern faced Frenchman, has emerged as a key to Arsenals upturn in form. Koscielny has been Arsenals finest defender of the season (Not the hardest thing to do considering the likes of Djourou, Jenkinson and Mertesacker), and with the recovery of Thomas Vermaelen, the Arsenal faithful might finally see a sturdy central defensive partnership return to the Emirates, and its about time.

3. Brad Friedel - Tottenham

Now I am not saying Friedel ever was a terrible keeper at any point far from it, but I am sure I am not the only one surprised at how good the 40 year old yank has been. The Americans heroics against Fulham showed he is still one of the finest shot stoppers in the English game, and it still shocks me just how consistent he has been, and for a 40 year old to still be doing it at the highest level is to me surprisingly impressive, a true professional.

4. Younes Kaboul - Tottenham

Two Tottenham players shows that Tottenham are vastly improving, but last season the Frenchman was one of Spur's last resorts in the centre half position. But due to injury setbacks for the men in white, Kaboul has come in and formed a very sturdy relationship with Ledley King. With Ledley King's knees looking like they could explode at any second, Kaboul has had to step in and be a much stronger centre half than certainly he was last season. He has given Redknapp some breathing space in the centre half position as he has added to the squad's depth, and with Harry's recent health troubles, i'm certain that the performances of Kaboul are not adding to his problems.

5. Jonas Gutierrez - Newcastle

The Argentinian looked somewhat hap-hazard during some of his stay with the Toon, but this campaign he has looked every bit an extremely solid winger. His defensive duties have been excellent, particularly against Stoke, and his attacking play has looked sharp and direct, and is now finally showing the characteristics of a great winger and is further helping Newcastle re-establish themselves as a Premier League main stay.
