Robin Van Persie's sensational hattrick at Stamford Bridge on Saturday showed the world that he is truly a world class player. 28 goals in 27 games is something we are used to seeing from the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and yet Van Persies name does not appear on the Ballon d'Or list
A man who has been in such sparkling form for Arsenal has done some spectacular things in 2011 and has scored more goals than most strikers in Europe. Yet on the nominees list I was amazed by some of the choices fifa had made most notably Neymar and Karim Benzema.

'Don't get me wrong Karim Benzema on his day can be a nightmare for any of the world's great defenders, but does a player who's not even a guaranteed starter for his club deserve to be a nominee'?

'Neymar is presumably one of the world hottest talents, but how can he be a nominee while playing in the Brazilian league? He failed to shine at the Copa America and without European football experience I don't think he can be a nominee, my own personal opinion'.
Talented these players maybe but so far in 2011 they have not lived up to the heights of Arsenals talisman. With all this aside though, we can pretty much all safely say that Messi will most likely retain his respective title as the worlds finest player, but perhaps fifa should reconsider there nominations in the future
